Leading off this event filled summer is Marietta Fourth in the Park. This event is located in historic downtown Marietta at The Square. The event kicks off at 10:00am with the Marietta Freedom Day Parade. After the parade, patrons will be able to mingle throughout the park and enjoy the many food, and arts and craft booths while singing along to the sound of Scott Thompson in concert. The traditional Bell Ringing ceremony will take place at 2:00 followed by the parade float awards at 2:15. As dusk approaches, country star Greg Bates hits the stage at 8:00. Just after dark be sure to have a good seat to enjoy one of the metro area’s largest firework shows!
With the summer really heating up Adams Park in Kennesaw will surely heat up your taste buds with its annual Pigs and Peaches BBQ Festival. This BBQ fest is one of the largest you will find in North Georgia and has been named one of the top 25 food festivals in the nation by the Kansas City Barbeque Society. The festival hold 3 different types of competitions, the Georgia Barbecue Championship, the Backyard BBQ, and the ever so sweet Anything Butt and Peach Dessert contest. Over $15,000 will be awarded to whoever brings their best BBQ skills. With 30,000 people in attendance in 2012, this event will surely make for a great weekend. If you enjoy art, be at the Marietta Square August 31st - September 2nd to enjoy “Art in the Park”. This annual event has been taking place for the last 27 years. Artist from all over the nation will be in attendance showing off their finest work during this Labor Day weekend event. Come out and walk the historic downtown Marietta area and enjoy the great talent of hundreds of great artists.
Do you love food? Do you love good food? I know I do, and that is why I will be attending “Taste of Kennesaw” on September 7th from 11am-8pm. Restaurants from the area will make your taste buds explode with their great creations. Bring the kids, this family event is a perfect way to enjoy the afternoon. This free event attracted over 25,000 people last year with its great music, fellowship, and of course amazing food!
On September 21st, come enjoy Marietta Streetfest! There will be an antique car from 10am-3pm as well as many, many antiques for purchase. Antiques are not the only for sale items that will be available, many fine art pieces will be available for purchase as well along with jewelry, toys, and collectibles. So whether you are just in the mood to stroll around and see some cool stuff or you have a love for buying great antiques and fine art, come out and enjoy downtown Marietta.
To end an awesome event filled Summer 2013, The North Georgia State Fair is coming to town! On September 19th, the largest fair in the metro Atlanta area will set up shop in our own backyard! With nearly 300,000 people expected, this annual event for all ages is sure to be a great time. Between rides, enjoy a famous funnel cake, or a great big corn dog all the while listening to the sounds of one of the many artists who will perform in concert. Admission for this awesome event is: Adults $7.00, Children under 10 FREE. All concerts are free with fair admission. Come out and enjoy the largest fair in the metro Atlanta area! So even if you don’t get to take the vacation of your dreams this summer, just remember that there are plenty of events planned in your own back yard that are next to free to attend.
