A Friday Night At The Square

In the heart of Marietta lies a town square, some call it Glover Park, and others call it simply, “The Square”. Either way, on the last Friday of each summer month, this historic location is transformed into a magical evening for the entire family. Surrounded by a beautiful landscape and the true feel of a small town, “The Square” turns into a fun for all ages jam fest.

This past Friday as dawn approached, so did the thousands of patrons who came out to enjoy an amazing night of live music and fellowship with neighbors. Kids, lawn chairs, and coolers in tow, the evening turned into a true community event. The band “Glow” rocked out to the best hits from the 70’, 80’s, and 90’s. Yes, they even played a couple of today’s top jams! People of all ages lined the front rows, dancing and grooving to the beat with nothing but smiles and laughter. As the 11 O’clock hour approached, the band played its last song on the play list, only to be forced to play one more song by the crowd. A loud eruption of whistles and cheers filled the Marietta night as the band belted out the legendary hit “Sweet Home Alabama”, authored by Lynard Skynard. As the bright lights dimmed for the evening, the crowd dwindled down and “The Square” returned back to its normal peaceful, yet tastefully fancy self. Some went home to be with family for the evening and some headed across the street to their favorite late night venue. “The Square” offers entertainment for any age and is always a great place to check out whether you are in search of a great meal, a drink, great shopping, or a GREAT FRIDAY NIGHT CONCERT!

If you are looking for a fun night out with family, friends, and thousands of your neighbors, check out the next free Friday night concert on June 28th. You can expect a great time in a truly friendly and welcoming environment. One tip though, get there early to set up your chairs to ensure a great view! In the mean time, please keep your eyes open for next month’s update on this great event at “The Square”.
